DOB 4/14/64
Education: BS in Wildlife Biology University of Maine
I started climbing in high school and immediately fell in love with vertical world. I continued to develop my skills while
attending the University of Maine and also began instructing for Maine Bound, the outdoor adventure program at the University
of Maine. At Maine Bound I helped instruct courses ranging form wilderness medicine to expeditions to 20,000ft peaks in Ecuador.
After receiving my degree I participated in many environmental research projects, studying everything from songbird nesting
habits to global warming. In 1992 I decided to get back into guiding and moved to Alaska to start working for Alaska Wildland
Adventures. In Alaska, I took folks white-water rafting and exploring Denali National Park
In 1996 I began instructing for the National Outdoor Leadership School, based in Lander, WY. I am a senior instructor for
NOLS , teaching courses on rock climbing an mountaineering. NOLS provides me with the opportunity to visit wild places for
extended periods of time. As a result, I get to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with young people who are excited to be
there.
